    • Hawk Smith, Ray and Terry Braddy's neighbor's 4 year old cousin, has been diagnosed with an inoperable malignant brain tumor. He is undergoing radiation at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. His family worships at the College Hills C of C in Lebanon. They have requested our prayers.

  • 12/23/05
    • Rick Rissman remains at Cobb Hospital with a very painful and swollen hand. The doctors do not know what is causing the pain and swelling, or when he will be dismissed.
    • Laurene Hitchcock did not receive good new in Texas. The tumor has continued to grow.
    • Ben Ream will be spending Christmas at St. Joseph's this year.
    • Julia Jones remains in serious condition without much hope of recovering.
  • 12/09/05
    • Mark Bruce, one of Kirk Eigel's customers, was involved in a hunting accident last Saturday. He was shot in the forehead and is in ICU at Grady. He has a wife and two children.
    • Julia Jones had to be taken back to Kennestone Hospital yesterday.
    • Ben Ream continues to struggle.
  • 12/07/05
    • Susan Thomas, Cari Musgrave's mother, has just found out that her cancer has returned. She was told that surgery is not an option and she will have to undergo chemo. Please keep Susan and her family in your prayers.
  • 12/02/05
    • Charlie Kirkland's 5 month old son passed away last night in the Birmingham hospital after battling pneumonia for several days in Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Charlie is Ken Cavenport's co-worker. Please keep this family in your prayers.
    • Ben Ream -- Today is day 61 in the hospital. Even though his condition remain very serious, the insurance company would like to send him home.
    • Robert Ream was sent home even though his condition has not improved very much.
  • 12/01/05
    • Gilberto, The Steed's foster child, had a court hearing yesterday and the judge allowed Bobby to testify, though they don't hold any allusion about the weight he gave the testimony. Whilst he did not make a ruling, he was not particularly encouraging. In fact, later in the day the birth family requested, and the judge granted, that Gilberto will have overnight visits every Saturday. It seems bleak from man's point of view, but as Jesus Christ himself said, " with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." so please continue to pray for Gilberto fervently.
  • 11/30/05

  • 11/22/05
    • Nathan Pitts is dealing with some difficult issues at home and Tommy has requested our prayers for him.
    • Ben Ream's surgery today was less successful than they had hoped for. Please keep him in prayer.
      • UPDATE 11/29/05 - Some cautious good news, which we hope and pray will work out.......after just a few days ago saying Ben would still be in ICU for weeks, he has been moved to intermediate care! He still has a long way to go, but at least he is out of the ICU where he has resided for 3 weeks. They are going to try the intermediate care, and see how it works out. He is in room 375. Praise the Lord for answered prayers, and for those who prayed them!

    • Mindy Posie, the best friend of Kim Cable's niece, went to the doctor yesterday not feeling well. She was given an antibiotic shot after being told she had strep. Today she was "out of it" and was taken to Scottish Rite by helicopter. The doctors there said she was misdiagnosed, attempted to hydrate her - which all ended up settling in her lungs - and said she has toxic-shock syndrome. She is on a ventilator and not doing well at all. Her parents have requested prayers from anyone and everyone. Mindy is 15 years old.
      • UPDATE 12/30/05 - Mindy Posey is scheduled to come home from the hospital next week! According to a buddy of mine at work she has a little bit of slowness on her left side, but other than that, all is well.

    • Charles Carlsen, Roy's father, was admitted to the hospital last week due to internal bleeding. While in the hospital, he fell out of bed and broke his hip and will be having surgery soon.
      • UPDATE 11/15/05 - Charles remains in the hospital in Chicago. He had surgery for a broken hip last week. Unfortunately he has fallen out of bed again and bruised his other hip. He has lost a significant amount of weight since his wife's death last summer. Roy and Eileen will be traveling to Chicago soon.

      • UPDATE 11/15/05 - Rick Leger had asked that we spend as much time as we could yesterday praying for Ben Ream. The news this morning is AWESOME. This comes from Brian. "A new type of bed "showed up" for him yesterday. It is a heated air chamber bed which has a constantly blowing supply of sand inside. The sand is there to stimulate the skin and blood flow for a patient who cannot move, in order to prevent bed sores and protect the sink. Outstanding!"
    • Sue DavisSue Davis is feeling some better. The doctor has determined that she has an inner ear infection and fluid in the inner ear. She has been placed on a salt free diet and goes back in three weeks. If it is not better, there is a surgical procedure that can be done to drain the fluid.
  • 11/07/05
    • Doyle West's Mother is in the hospital. She has several health problems that the doctors are dealing with.
    • Marel Bados's Wife has a rare type of pnuemonia caused by a bad bacteria lodged in her lungs. But thanks to God, her condition is stable for the moment. The doctors are treating her problem with great care. This problem has been getting worse for more than 15 days. (Marel Bados is a very dear man, and more importantly, a brother. He is one of the key evangilists to the churches in Trujillo. We came to know and love him during our trip to Honduras.)
      • UPDATE 11/22/05 - Thanks to all who prayed for Marel's wife. The news is good. A doctor at the hospital in San Pedro found a strong infection in her right lung and is treating it with infections every 12 hours. She is making good improvements and will see the doctor again next Friday. They hope to be able to return to Trujillo next Saturday.
      • UPDATE 11/9/05 - I have hope in God that my wife is going to get better and I want to express my deep concern for her health. I see I am obliged to ask all of you to help me in praying for her please because there are times that I become pessimistic at heart. I need encouragement and I don't understand the reason for my wife's sickness. She is still struggling with the sickness in her lungs and I would like to believe that it is not serious but her sickness is long and decimating and because of this I ask the brothers of the church of the Lord that they all pray for Angela Yanory my wife. I pray every day to my Lord and ask the question, "why is this happening to us?" At times I feel frightened about what will happen with my wife. I need all of the brothers to please pray for my wife at this time.
      • UPDATE 11/8/05 - Thanks for your prayers and for caring about us. My wife is improving but the temperature is very cold and it is a little uncomfortable. I have to buy some medicine because her treatment is lengthy but my economic situation is not very good at this moment. Continue to pray for her because she needs it and I will keep you informed about her health.

A CT scan last night revealed that the deep pocket they went after in the last surgery almost a month ago has now refilled to much larger than the original size. It is so large that on the scan they initially thought they were looking at the bladder, but no, that is over there! • Russell and Evie Gassaway . The Father of one of MaryKyle and Mary Elizabeth's classmates, had a car accident on Thursday afternoon. He fell asleep at the wheel and his car went down in a ravine and was on fire. A passerby pulled Russell from the car just as it exploded. He was life-flighted to Grady and is in ICU there. He has multiple broken bones in his body on top of other injuries and last I heard was still on a respirator just to give his body a break. his name is Russell Gassaway and he is stable, but will have a long road of recovery ahead. His wife Evie has been asking me about West Metro. In fact she had planned to come Easter Sunday but Russell had the flu and they ended up spending the day in the ER. They receive the newsletter that we send to the homes close to the bldg and really enjoy it. She told me that she had stopped going to the church where they have attended and would like to find somewhere that "just goes by the Bible". She stopped me Monday and asked for a "Favor" and that was just that I put their family on our prayer list at West Metro and told me about the wreck. Russell is the breadwinner in the home. Evie keeps a child or two part-time I believe, but my understanding is he is the main support. It is also my understanding that the nature of his work is that when he is not working he does not get paid. They have 3 children at home ranging in age from 4 - 15. The school sent home a letter to parents asking for either monetary donations or food. They have set out a box for food donations, but few have added to it. I thought this might be a great way to make an impression on this family and for us to reach out to a family in our community. If anyone can make a casserole or other main dish that can go in the freezer and bring it to me Sunday, not frozen yet and in a disposable container ready for the freezer with cooking instructions and what it is attached, Kellie Givens and I will get it to them. This way, they can have dinner ready to go in the oven when they are in from the hospital. If you don't have time to cook and still want to help, they will take whatever help that is given. You might instead pick up one of those "bakes"...like a casserole or pasta dish in a box or just a Wal-Mart or Kroger gift card...just thoughts. Or send a card to Grady for Russell Gassaway identifying yourself as a member at West Metro. Above all, please keep this family in your prayers both for Russell's healing but also that we at West Metro might reach out and touch them through this difficult time.

    • Gilberto. We need everyone in the church and their friends to pray to God that he will cause our adoption of Gilberto to be successful. An uncle, that almost two years ago said he wanted nothing to do with him, now says he wants him. Now that he is our son and fully a part of our family, it would destroy his life to be ripped from us and sent to strangers (if only you could only imagine what it would do to Mason if someone took him and just gave him to strangers). Gilberto would never know Jesus or the salvation he offers. His great potential would be destroyed. His world would crash down. Please have everyone pray to God so that He will not allow this to happen. He is sovreign and all powerful, surely he will rise up and save this innocent and loving child! Please pray and plead with God to help!

    • Jeff Cooper, Judy May's first cousin's son, has suffered a brain hemorrhage on Monday and is in critical condition in Kennestone Hospital. Jeff is the son of Randy and Betty Ann Cooper and is 27 years old. He had a brain tumor when he was 14 years old, which was removed and followed up with radiation treatment. Jeff is in a drug induced coma at this time. At first the doctors gave the parents little hope for him, but the CAT scan on tuesday looked better than they had expected. Tomorrow they'll do another CAT scan and if it looks as good as Tuesday, they plan to SLOWLY bring him out of the coma over the weekend and into early next week. If that goes well, they'll do an EEG to see what kind of brain activity is there. It a touch and go situation, but there seems to be a glimmer of hope now and his parents are optimistic! Please pray for Jeff's recovery, his doctors, his parents, sister and all his family!! If anyone is at the hospital, please stop by to see the family...they are normally in the waiting area right outside the ICU unit on the 3rd floor. • Chandler William Minehart On May 8, 2004 Chandler William Minehart was welcomed into this world; and while his parent’s hearts were overwhelmed with joy and excitement, the delivering doctor and nurses looked at Chandler and knew something was wrong. Covering Chandler’s tender body were black, blue and purple bruises. Chandler was immediately taken to the neonatal intensive care unit and underwent testing to explain his bruising. The doctors soon discovered Chandler had a critically low platelet count due to incompatibility of Chandler’s platelets and his mothers. Chandler immediately began platelet transfusions. When Chandler was 2 days old, his NICU doctor ordered a MRI to make sure Chandler’s brain had not suffered because of the low platelets. Chandler did not have any bleeds on his brain, but the doctor did discover a problem. Upon reviewing the MRI, the doctor saw a very large cyst within one of the membranes covering Chandler’s brain. The diagnosis was an Arachnoid Cyst. Arachnoid cyst often go undetected and without problems. However, in Chandler’s case the cyst has caused pressure on his brain and seizures. Left untreated, the cyst can have long-term neurological side effects, blindness, deafness, paralysis, developmental delays, and extremely painful headaches. Chandler underwent surgery in September 2004 in Atlanta for the cyst to drain. However, the surgery was not successful. Now Chandler must undergo another surgery in order to alleviate the pressure created by the cyst and to prevent damage to his brain and nervous system. But due to the rarity and complexity of neurological disorders such as this, Chandler and his parents must travel to California to have an innovative, cutting edge laser surgery performed on Chandler’s cyst. The doctor in California is the only surgeon in the nation to perform this highly specialized surgery. Since the day Chandler was born, he has been a fighter. He has surprised his doctors from the beginning with his beautiful bright personality and relentless spirit. Chandler’s parents have promised him they will go to the ends of the universe to have him healed. For now, they are just crossing the Nation.

    • Jordan, Terry and Nina Hale's foster child. "DFACS called yesterday and said that they will be moving Jordan to a new foster home in Henry Co....They want him moved by the 15th of Feb... The reason they want him moved is they feel he is too far away and it is difficult to get him to his visits with his mother on Tuesdays...We have told DFACS that we would provide Transportation for these visits, but they will not accept this offer.. Terry and I both know and can except the fact that Jordan would leave one day... We had hoped that when that day came that he would be going into a permanent situation ... It is very upsetting for us to see him put into the cycle of one foster home after another... Agape is going to try to convince Henry county DFACS to have another court hearing..... Its a long shot, but we haven't given up Hope...So we would appreciate all of you prayers in order that Jordan will be in the place best suited for him and that Gods will be done."

    • Lyle Shackelford, Battalion Chaplain, As a transportation battalion, my unit will be delivering the voting machines and the ballots to villages and cities throughout Iraq during the upcoming elections. (January 30/31) Our convoys are prime targets for the insurgents because they do not want the equipment to arrive at the polling stations nor do they want the local Iraqi citizens to have the chance to vote; timely delivery must occur so that the elections occur. Encourage your friends and family members and those within our churches to pray specifically for the electoral process. Historically, the previous totalitarian regime would not allow individual citizens to vote. Democracy will not be realized in Iraq if intelligent and competent officials are not elected to those strategic leadership positions within the emerging government; freedom will not have an opportunity to ring throughout this country if the voting process fails. Announce this prayer request to your contacts throughout your churches, neighborhoods, and places of business. Those with leadership roles within the local church post this message in as many newsletters and bulletins as possible. There is unlimited potential for God's presence in this process but if we do not pray then our enemy will prevail (See Ephesians 6:10-17) A prayer vigil prior to the end of the month may be an innovative opportunity for those within your sphere of influence to pray. This is a political battle that needs spiritual intervention. A powerful story about God's intervention in the lives of David's mighty men is recorded in 2 Samuel 23:8-33. David and his warriors were victorious because of God's intervention. We want to overcome those who would stand in the way of freedom. David's mighty men triumphed over incredible odds and stood their ground and were victorious over the enemies of Israel. (Iraqi insurgents' vs God's praying people). They don't stand a chance.
I will pray with my soldiers before they leave on their convoys and move outside our installation gates here at Tallil. My soldiers are at the nerve center of the logistic operation to deliver the voting machines and election ballots. They will be driving to and entering the arena of the enemy. This is not a game for them it is a historical mission that is extremely dangerous. No voting machines or ballots. No elections. Your prayer support and God's intervention are needed to give democracy a chance in this war torn country. Thank you for reading this e-mail. Please give this e-mail a wide dissemination.
Thank you for your prayer support for me and my family. Stand firm in your battles.

    • Delaney and Deena Late Thursday night an 8-month-old little girl named Delaney pulled a hot Fry Daddy onto her body. Her Mom, Deena, pulled her out of her walker and also burned herself. They life-flighted the little girl to Scottish Rite and then to Parkland Burn Center in Dallas. She has 40% burns on the trunk of her body. They are going to amputate at least 3 fingers on one hand and will have to graft skin from her Mom and Dad to help repair her. She is in critical condition and her lungs have filled with water. They don`t know if she will live or not. They say the next few days will decide. They live in Florence, Texas and have two other children. THEY NEED AS MANY PRAYERS AS THEY CAN GET. Will you please forward this to as many prayer warriors as you can? It only takes a moment to say a simple prayer for this sweet baby, and prayer is much more powerful than most people realize! Please take just a quick minute to pray for this baby girl and her mother.

    • Our Soldiers Assisting in the Iraq Elections Sherri Rissman sent the following: "Request prayer for God's protection of the Army team that will be moving voting machines and ballots into the enemy's arena in Iraq. Quote from the chaplain's message below: "This is not a game for them; it is a historical mission that is extremely dangerous. No voting machines or ballots....No elections. Your prayer support and God's intervention are needed to give democracy a chance in this war torn country." I am afraid that we take the privilege of "voting" for granted in this country. This made me stop and think about how blessed we are to live in the United States where we can vote without fear.

    • Greg, the brother of a coworker of Bobby Steed, is asking for your prayers. Greg is now in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. He was admitted there on Christmas afternoon. Since his admission, he has incurred some nuerological impairment. It is believed that this is a result of nerve damage caused by shingles and /or leukemia which was found in his lower spine. Thus far, cat scans of his brain have been clean, which is a good sign. It is believed that this new leukemia was caught early and is treatable by radiation which he receives once a day. Five sessions down, seven more to go. We need your prayers so that Greg starts showing some improvement in his motor skills. His spirits are good and his determination is unwavering as shown by the golf ball that he keeps squeezing in his hand. Along this journey that started in London , Greg has continually amazed us with his determination, courage and faith in God. Since his bone marrow transplant, he has won some incredible "battles" . With your help, he will win this one too. We helped him the last time...through prayer. May our prayers be answered now as well.

    • Denise Turner & Frank Ward. Frank Ward, is in need of a Kidney transplant to save his life. He currently has dialysis every other day, five hours each time. Doctors have said if he does not have a transplant he cannot live longer than two years even with machines working for him. Right before Christmas, my Dad's cousin Denise Turner, went to Piedmont Hospital for testing to see if her kidney was a match. As hard as it was for my Dad to allow a family member to even offer this GREAT sacrifice, he excepted it because she is the only family member in good heath, and no history of Cancer. (You cannot donate an organ if you have had ANY form of Cancer). Yesterday, Piedmont Hospital called to say, Denise is a MATCH!! We were so excited, and saw an end in sight! Until we discovered that during her intense examination that Denise has a lump in her breast. We do not know if she has Cancer or not. We are only asking for you to pray for Denise and her health. If it is God's will for her to be the key tocontinue Frank's life we know your prayers will help. Please keep each of them in your prayers.

    • Jameson Hope is being admitted to Scottish Rite tonight. He's developed a gathering of spinal fluid on his brain. The doctor is going to do additional surgery in the morning to insert a permanent shunt to deal with the excess fluid. The build up of fluid can develop pretty quickly into a bad situation so he wanted him admitted tonight. The surgery is scheduled for 7:30 or 8:00 in the morning. The procedure will take about 45 minutes plus the time for going to sleep and waking up (most likely a couple of hours). The doctor predicts that he'll be feeling good by tomorrow night and we should be released Friday. We would ask for everyone's prayers tonight and know that God will see him through this procedure as well. We're in Room 103
      • UPDATE 01/05/05 - The Doctor just came in and told us that Jameson is doing fine. We're waiting for him to come out of recovery. Should be another 20 minutes
      • UPDATE 01/05/05 - After a long day of recovery, Jameson was up eating and playing last night. But...this morning he awoke with another headache and nausea. After a CT scan, they found that now too much fluid was being removed. Fortunately the valve is externally programmable, so they were able to adjust. He's now feeling better as he rests in bed. We're waiting for the doctor to come back around in the next couple of hours. Not sure at this point when we'll be released. God continues to work on Jameson and we're thankful for the many prayers on his behalf.
      • UPDATE 01/09/05 - After an energetic night that kept us up until 12:30 this morning...Jameson awoke with no headache and feeling pretty good this morning, so the doctor released us. He still has lots of healing to do...but we're thankful that God has brought him through and past these rough times. We'll be going back to the doctor for follow up in about 10 days. Thanks for the prayers already said and for your continued prayers as he moves along the path to recovery. We're confident that he's in God's hands and that he'll go through the rest of his recovery without any other "speed bumps".
      • UPDATE 01/12/05 - Jameson is gaining strength each day, but still has head pain and nausea. They appreciate our continued prayers for his recovery.
