FROM RICKY’S DESK When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Dear woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” It must have been an incredibly intense and tender moment when Jesus uttered the words above. Seeing His mother and the disciple John standing near the cross (there were three other women there, too), He was determined to continue to care for her and love her the way He had always loved her. Even in the midst of terrible torture, His concern was for others, particularly for His mother. We love our mothers. They are precious to us. Each and every one is a very special person who has had a profound impact on our lives. Some of us are sitting today with our mothers. Others have contacted or will contact our mothers to wish them well on this special day. Still others have had to say goodbye to their mothers, anticipating that we will all meet again one day. Whatever the case may be, all of us today can be thankful to God for the unbreakable love that our mothers have shown for us. As we celebrate and worship the God who loves us perfectly, let us also honor the special women who have given so much of themselves to us. I love you, Mom. --Ricky GEORGIA AGAPE CONTRIBUTION Today we have the opportunity to give to Georgia AGAPE. Their annual Mother’s Day Appeal is the largest fundraiser for their organization. Our congregation has been richly blessed through the work of Georgia AGAPE. Their efforts to help children in need depend on the generosity of their supporters. FROM KEVIN’S DESK Ecclesiastes 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven… This past week was a time of reflection and celebration for Chaney and me. Thursday the 7th was our 15th wedding anniversary! In our 15 years together we’ve helped each other finish college, lived in 4 states, worked together in 3 ministry internships and 3 full-time youth ministry posts, owned and operated our own business, owned 3 homes, and have been blessed with 3 children. These are the big events that frame all of the rest of the details of life. There are sooooo many stories to remember… some of which are fairly recent and involve many of you here at West Metro ?. Looking back over it all makes me smile and I’m amazed at all that God has done and continues to do in us, for us, and through us. He is wonderful! This time of celebration has been sweet and joyful, but now is also a time of prayer, planning, purpose, and recommitment. The next 15 years has already begun. What does God have planned for us in our marriage, for our children, for the West Metro congregation? Only He knows the details, but I’m excited and just can’t wait to find out what’s next! I love you, Chaney! I’m committed to march on into life with you as my best friend and partner for the next 15 years, and the next 15, and the next 15, … as long as He sustains us and gives us life. Whatever season of life you are in, I encourage you to celebrate His blessings and guidance in your life. I also encourage you to put your trust in Him for your future! God is faithful and true. He can accomplish more than we ask or imagine when we put our faith in Him and His son, Jesus Christ! As you make plans and give purpose to your next season in life, remember to commit it all to God for His glory. If you do, when we finally get home to heaven, we’ll have an eternity to celebrate! - Kevin OUR PRAYER LIST ? Please continue to pray for the many folks enduring cancer treatments: Les Galligan, Laura Hawes, and Rhonda Peal. ? Charlie Jones is at home now gaining his strength and feeling some better.
